A Long Road Back, Quickly?
With their
country seemingly on fire, smoldering conservatives turned up the heat this
past weekend. Rush Limbaugh rousingly closed out the CPAC annual meeting,
spending well over an hour going over Conservatism 101 for the roaring crowd.
You remember Conservatism 101. It was that old reliable home study course most
Americans instinctively knew and loved…. the one full of self-evident truths
which inspired the U.S. Constitution a while back. Interestingly enough, it’s
the same class liberals have always avoided in order to take Conflict
Resolution Class or Women’s Studies.
Rush’s
self-proclaimed first address to the nation was a stem-winder of a Conservative
pep rally, the best since the advent of Sarah Palin (sans John McCain, of
course.) Who’d have guessed self-evident truths would make for spell-binding
oratory?
Lefty spies in attendance, no doubt, yawned and smirked and
blinked in dumb-founded confusion. After all, didn’t they drop that stupid
class once?
Of all America’s problems, this one from the inside is
the most serious: when our once self-evident founding truths are no longer
self-evident to the majority, then meaningful political discussion ends and America will be
irretrievably broken. At that point, for all our supposed enlightenment, dark
will be upon us. America
will have retreated from her heritage, her standing in the world, and her
exalted place in history. And all of humanity will pay dearly for it for a long
time.
Liberals now
are gleefully grabbing for the socialist brass ring. America is the prize of all prizes.
Like con men eyeing their mark, liberals mean in short order to part ordinary
Americans from their past, their present, and, in turn, their future. A shark
wouldn’t stand a chance in the middle of this liberal feeding frenzy.
Liberalism has been at war for a long time against common sense, small
government, the culture, the family, fiscal responsibility, business and
industry, capitalism, God, individual responsibility, the unborn, and the civic
and economic well-being of Americans yet to come.
In liberalism’s
relentless quest to discredit America’s
once self-evident truths, liberals have become the civic equivalent of society’s
sexual predators, preying on a naïve and purposely politically dumbed-down
electorate. American liberals have become scoundrels of World Class Magnitude.
In spite of the Constitution, they have managed to bring the American
government to exact cross purposes with its original objectives. A hundred
years’ worth of apologies from them would not suffice.
Of course,
there have been many Republicans who have aided and abetted, compromised and
acquiesced over the years as liberalism has woven a government that makes us
all comfortable with dishonesty. Liberalism feeds on jealousy, envy, ignorance,
and fear. It structures government accordingly, to punish success and reward
failure. It boldly proclaims, ”Go ahead, thou shalt covet.” Government imposes
unfairness in the name of fairness, insufferable double standards in the name
of equality, and tyranny in the name of compassion. Where, oh where, have WE
THE PEOPLE been all the while?
And then there’s
the Main Shame Media, former specified beneficiary and hallowed repository of
the BIG ONE in the Bill of Rights, who act collectively as though they’ve been
both lobotomized and nationalized in the dark of night. It’s doubtful they
could display any less integrity if the government began mailing them weekly
checks. You could drive a convoy through the hole in the job the Main Shame
Media is doing.
Finally there are the cowed capitalists. From the
CEO’s at the top to the crew that sweeps up the floor at the end of the trading
day, anyone who makes a dime off the pursuits of capitalism becomes an honorary
guardian of it. It’s a sacred trust. Capitalism is as important to America as oxygen
is to a ten-year old kid. America
is wholly unsuited to any other economic model. Capitalism isn’t perfect, but
it’s way ahead of the miserable economic mutation coming if liberals get their
way. Capitalist flies need to look this liberal spider in the eyes. They must
find the courage to stop feeding this beast which ultimately intends to eat
them.
Perhaps the
most important line Rush Limbaugh uttered at CPAC was that children deserve to
be told the truth. Well, America
can’t point out noble self-evident truths to its children while living within
liberalism’s lies. These two things are irreconcilable and mutually exclusive.
There’s a long
road to go and a short time to get there, but it’s been noted that one man with
courage often makes a majority. There must be millions of individual
conservatives out there. They’d better get it together post haste, before July
4 becomes just another hot day on the summer calendar. America, the
adults don’t have to stand to the side while the juveniles amongst us play with
matches.
